October is Art month

This month, we have been learning about art.  We've taken out boat loads of books from the library, but my favorite resource right now is Usborne's Famous Paintings cards.  We are trying to learn each of the 30 artists in a month.  We've studied Impressionism, including Monet, Cezanne and Degas and have studied some of the Moderns, including Picasso, Pollock and Kadinsky.  The kids have even given a try at creating their own Water Lillies.  I love that the kids can look at a piece of artwork and can have a good guess at who painted it!
